To the thief in the office

Dear thieving individual,

I hope you realize, that while we maintain a working relationship, it is lucky for you that I don’t know your real identity, because that would certainly affect our interactions. While it is one thing that you take from my candy jar an occasional Hershey’s kiss or two, it is entirely another that you wait until after I leave work to steal a multitude of Cadbury eggs from that same jar. While I hate to make broad, sweeping generalizations of people, I must admit that you are one of those that ruin it for everyone.

In an effort to better our workplace and bring a smile to the faces around me, I starting bringing the chocolaty pieces of heaven into work. Pleased that no one took advantage of it and in the spirit of the upcoming holiday, I thought that I might upgrade the prize to mini-Cadbury eggs. Yes, they’re costly, but I threw caution to the wind.

While your thieving little hands stole more than they could carry from the dish on the first night, it was quite another that you so boldly entered my desk drawers to steal again when I removed the bowl on the second night. Your intrusion to my personal space is where I draw the line.

May your disrespect for our workplace and personal space become a lesson to you in the end.

Yes, I
am jealous of anyone who escapes this hellish deep freeze of a state and wanders their way south of the border.
