I've been shopping for last minute wedding things online as of late. Tonight, the search was on for a barrette -- nothing too over the top, something quite simple. I adore Swarovski crystals, so I Googled Swarovski barrette. Imagine my surprise when I didn't find much for myself, but found
this.

Congrats to the icons
Congrats to
Google and Mapquest, for becoming such cultural icons that the mention of their names was included in Thursday night's episode of ER.

Trying out the new Blogger.
In honor of Mother's Day -- or not so much --
Blogger launch a new, trendier, more user-friendly version of itself today. While I'm still getting used to them, I like the new digs. The only, slightly aversive thing I don't like about it is the control panel. At the top, it's labeled Dashboard -- the uber-exclusive and over-used word they spout at work.

If there's one thing I hate, it's jargon. In the early nineties, companies found that workplace morale improved as jargon was introduced. Sociologically this makes sense, since people feel most comfortable with those who speak their language. In the early 2000's though, jargon's gotten out of hand, almost ostracizing those who don't speak it.

In my workplace, people run around using words and phrases like dashboard management, dot points, calendar and capacity, and "let's take this offline." As someone who works in the role that I do, I try my best to avoid polluting my vocabulary with the filth, but admittedly, they sneak in every now and then.
