Blast from the past
Tonight Ryan introduced me to For the Kids, <Rhapsody Link> a compilation album of modern artists, covering all our favorite childhood songs. While some of the tunes may not be as familiar to our generation as the School House Rocks! songs, there’s certainly the rarely covered song on the song.
For half an hour or so, I rocked out to Cake covering “Mahna Mahna” from The Muppet Show, crooned with Ivy as she sang her swanky version of “Sing” and even felt a little heartache as only Sarah MacLachlan could handle the likes of “The Rainbow Connection.”
Regardless of their age, I have the urge to give a copy of these songs to my niece and nephew, maybe to unite my childhood with theirs. Whatever the case, I think the CD will catapult anyone my age back to a day when things seemed simpler, we barely slept the night before Christmas and couldn’t wait to get home to Mr. Rogers.

What are they thinking?
Today I got a member email from Ofoto announcing its new name change. Ofoto is becoming the Kodak Easyshare Gallery. Maybe I’m alone on this one, but I think it’s a bad idea. I know it’s a Kodak company (they make it abundantly clear in the logo), but in my opinion, the person who dreamt this up should get a pink slip later this week.
Ofoto is short, sweet and to the point. Kodak Easyshare Gallery? Do they see how much confusion this’ll cause? What’s the website address? Is Easyshare hyphenated or one word? Do I go to Kodak.com to upload my pictures? Nope. The address is already registered.
To me, this is like Ford doing away with Ford and becoming Ford Dependable Car Manufacturer, Inc. or Target becoming Target Consumer Department Store. Of course, what do I know? I work in communications, not marketing.
